Role: Accounts Assistant
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00 - 5.30pm
Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office, 3 days from home
The Role
The Accounts Assistant works with the UK Client Accounting team based in Guildford, consisting of 6 Legal Cashiers, 2 Senior Legal Cashiers, and reports to the Legal Cashier Team Leader. The role involves providing administrative support and is vital to the team.
The team maintains client and office accounts where transactions are subject to strict regulatory rules as required by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. Attention to detail is essential to ensure all financial activities comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules. The ideal candidate will have excellent attention to detail, be capable of prioritising tasks, and liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily download of UK Client and Office bank accounts.
2. Record and identify new client receipts, relate them to practice areas, and pass to the relevant Legal Cashier, maintaining a log.
3. Record and identify new office receipts, maintain a register, and record receipts against the Debtors ledger within Elite 3E.
4. Reconcile suspense accounts and ensure unidentified receipts are returned promptly.
5. Reconcile unplaced receipts ledger.
6. Perform bank reconciliations as holiday cover.
7. Assist with ad hoc projects for the Legal Cashier Team Leader and Client Money & Financial Compliance Manager.
