GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Outdoor Education Support Worker to join schools in Wareham. This exciting role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in nature, have a nurturing approach, and can motivate young people through practical outdoor activities. A valid driving licence and the willingness to drive are ideally required for this role.
As an Outdoor Education Support Worker, you will play an important part in delivering high-quality support for students engaged in outdoor-based learning. You will assist children with their personal development, build their confidence, and encourage resilience through creative and practical outdoor activities. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on young people’s education and wellbeing.
About the School:
The school is an education setting based for 16 – 25+ years old with Special Educational Needs. It is based on 350 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside. The school operate enterprise activities and vocational teaching methods to bridge the gap between education and employment for young people and adults with SEN in Dorset and the local area. The school focuses on vocations like horticulture, agriculture, equine skills and animal care as well as many more, to enrich the lives and education of its pupils.
Key Responsibilities of an Outdoor Education Support Worker:
* Support pupils in outdoor learning activities tailored to their educational and personal development needs.
* Assist students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups to encourage engagement and participation.
* Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to deliver engaging outdoor lessons.
* Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
* Encourage independence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiences.
Skills & Requirements for an Outdoor Education Support Worker:
* Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
* CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or a relevant qualification in education or outdoor learning is preferred.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to drive are ideally required.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
* A genuine passion for working with children in an outdoor setting.
