Job Purpose

To support the University Flexible Lifelong Learning project, providing advice, guidance and support. Working with colleagues from across the University Colleges and Schools, in partnership with IT and Learning and Teaching Academy (LTA), to review and set up systems and processes to support the project objectives. You will need to have knowledge of a full range of university operational processes and understand all aspects of the use of Student Information Management System (SIMS) or other student records system and the interdependencies between systems. You will need to advise to ensure procedures and systems developed are able to support the University's statutory reporting requirement.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Duties

* Provide professional advice and guidance on Registry systems, processes and procedures to internal and external customers that will have institution wide impacts, advising on the impact of University processes and procedures on strategic developments and plans.
* Take responsibility for resolving issues independently within Registry where they impact the project objectives, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, consulting with colleagues where appropriate and ensuring complex and conceptual issues and solutions are understood by the audience.
* Advise and support those delivering projects that have an institution wide impact, monitoring progress and intervening as required.
* Investigate and analysis specific issues for the project, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within systems, processes and procedures.
* Ensure that the provision of University systems consider end to end processes and procedures. Proactively changing the delivery of the systems to effectively support the process according to customer requirements, contributing to the development of institution wide standards within Flexible Lifelong Learning.
* Establish relationships with key contacts to ensure role objectives are meet, developing appropriate communication links across the University and outside bodies as required.
* Create specific working groups from colleagues across the University to achieve project objectives and ensure that key stakeholders are consulted.
* Develop and deliver training of University systems, processes and procedures.
* Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the project.
* Instruct and guide other employees across the project as required.

* Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Education

* Postgraduate/Professional qualification/NVQ 5 or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

* Substantial experience of advising on educational change across the University or specific projects.
* An excellent understanding of academic regulations, policy and procedures and how these may be developed/implemented in a strategic manner.
* Proven experience of developing processes related to learning and teaching or higher education administration.

Customer Service, Communication and Team Working

* Proven ability to influence senior decisions within specialist discipline that have a strategic impact.
* Proven experience of working with a range of higher education staff and departments, while maintaining awareness of university policy and standards.
* Effective and persuasive communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences and forging partnerships between the Learning & Teaching Academy and colleagues across the University.

Planning, Analysis and Problem solving

* Evidence of ability to research and solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identify and propose both practical and innovative solution.
* Evidence of preparing regular reports on work progress and escalating risks as appropriate
* Evidence of prioritising and managing multiple tasks, with excellent organisational and project management skills and ability to provide innovative solutions to challenges or opportunities within the project.

Desirable Criteria

* Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
* Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
