Offer description

Write a short description of your company, a boilerplate of the business, service or product that you offer. Include your business idea and the target audience. This text is primarily supposed to be descriptive, not selling.

The Opportunity
A thriving 11–18 academy in Derbyshire is inviting applications for a passionate Art Teacher to join its creative arts faculty from January 2026. This full-time, permanent role involves teaching Art across Key Stages 3–5, including guiding students through GCSE and A-Level coursework. You will help shape a vibrant art curriculum and encourage students to explore visual expression and conceptual thinking.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking someone who:

* Holds QTS, PGCE, or equivalent teacher qualification
* Has strong subject knowledge and experience teaching Art (GCSE; A-Level experience ideal)
* Can design imaginative, rigorous lessons that push creativity and technical skill
* Uses assessment and feedback thoughtfully to support student growth
* Works well collaboratively, is adaptable, and brings energy to department life

Experience in leading extracurricular art workshops, exhibitions, cross-media projects (digital art, photography, ceramics), gallery visits or community links is highly desirable.

About the School
This co-educational academy serves around 1,500 students, including a Sixth Form cohort, and holds a strong reputation locally for marrying high academic standards with broad opportunities in the arts. The school supports the arts through regular showcase events where student work and performances gain real visibility.

The art and design department is well regarded: its A-Level Art programme emphasises independent study, experimentation, and sustained personal investigation, with dedicated “conservatory” studio space for students to work beyond lesson hours. The school’s campus, set close to local heritage and natural surroundings, offers inspiration for thematic projects and site-based work.

Inspectors have noted that art standards are very strong, with students confidently developing personal responses and demonstrating excellent drawing and compositional skills across key stages. The school also offers a rich extra-curricular programme, and art features as a key element of its cultural and visual identity.

Staff comment positively on the school’s collaborative culture, its openness to new ideas, and the leadership’s commitment to staff development and wellbeing.

What’s on Offer

* Salary on the MPS / UPS scale, with possible responsibility payments for leadership roles
* Access to high-quality CPD, mentoring and subject development time
* A supportive, creative team environment in which innovation is welcomed
* Specialist studio and classroom spaces, modern facilities, and on-site parking
* Opportunity to influence curriculum direction and lead exhibitions, workshops, outreach or collaborative projects

The Role in More Detail
You will plan and teach Art lessons across all ages, guiding students in techniques, media exploration, conceptual development, and project presentation. You’ll lead and supervise GCSE and A-Level coursework, supporting students in developing long-term projects and independent portfolios.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues in the arts faculty on whole-school arts initiatives (e.g. themed exhibitions, visual installations, cross-curricular art links). You may lead an art club, coordinate gallery or museum trips, and support events that give student work a public platform. The role may also involve leading display projects across the school, mentoring younger staff, or contributing to departmental improvement plans.

How to Apply
If you are an imaginative and dedicated Art Teacher seeking to inspire creative potential in a dynamic and ambitious school, we would be delighted to receive your application. Please send your CV. Early applications are encouraged as interviews may be held before the closing date.
