Administration Manager - General, Thoracic and Vascular Surgery
An opportunity has arisen to work within the management team of the General, Vascular and Thoracic Surgery Department. As the Administration Manager you will be an integral part of the team which is striving to make positive change to how we approach trust objectives. You will work closely with an experienced administration team to achieve their goals, you will ensure they feel included and given the opportunity to participate in the decisions which affect their day‑to‑day tasks.
You will have a keen interest in effective people management and a proven experience in positive change. You will be required to be confident, have a relaxed and approachable personality and have an excellent track record of multi‑tasking and organisation within a busy department.
As a staff member within a surgical speciality you will be responsible for managing effective pathways – from GP referrals through to surgical procedures, tracking cancer patients, theatre utilisation, outpatient clinics and waiting list management (PTL).
You will help to adapt, change, and continue to work on improvement so that every patient through the department has the best care. You will communicate well with senior colleagues, clinicians and your peers to ensure everyone is working well and helping each other achieve good outcomes for patients.
We seek a friendly, hard‑working and committed Administration Manager who will be an asset to the team and get involved in some exciting future development plans.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the direct line management of a wide range of administrative staff – including medical secretaries, waiting list co‑ordinators and patient pathway co‑ordinators.
We are looking for someone who will operate as part of a fluid management structure which operates all team members to the strengths of each member.
An example of a typical day would be the following:
* Monitoring staff requests such as annual leave, sickness reviews and appraisals
* Assess capacity, fill gaps in rotas/clinics/theatres
* Assist staff with patient pathway progressions
* Monitor specialty metrics
* Liaising with external departments
* Daily monitoring of current NNUH targets

Qualifications/training and professional development
* Management Diploma or equivalent/Significant experience in a managerial role.
Experience
* Experience of audit and change management
* Extensive previous secretarial /PA/ managing administrative staff experience.
