PAM Group Safety Manager
Prestwick Aircraft Maintenance (PAM) is a subsidiary of Ryanair providing base maintenance services exclusively to the Ryanair Airline group throughout Europe. Ryanair operates an aircraft fleet of more than 600 Boeing 737‑800 and 737‑8200 aircraft and continues to expand their operations.
This role reports directly to the PAML Accountable Manager and can be located in any of our six sites: Shannon, Prestwick, Kanuas, Wroclaw, Seville or Haan.
Responsibilities
* Managing the safety and information security reporting scheme and the occurrence reporting system.
* Managing safety performance and follow‑up of internal occurrence investigations.
* Co‑ordinating action on airworthiness occurrences, safety incidents and indicated vulnerabilities, and initiating any necessary further investigation.
* Liaising with appropriate authorities on safety issues.
* Providing information and suggestions for improvement on safety operations to the Accountable Manager.
* Facilitating hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management.
* Monitoring the implementation of actions taken to mitigate risks, as listed in the safety action plan.
* Providing periodic reports on safety performance to the safety review board to ensure the maintenance of safety management documentation.
* Ensuring that the feedback loop within the reporting scheme is established and operational.
* Ensuring the establishment of Safety Actions Group meetings.
* Ensuring that safety training is available and meets acceptable standards.
* Providing advice on all safety matters.
* Establishing the relevant information from maintenance and information security incidents/issues and feeding back to training.
* Ensuring that mandatory occurrences are reported as appropriate to the applicable authority.
* Reviewing and assessing the Organization’s safety performance indicators (SPI) and safety performance targets (SPT) and the associated triggers.
* Managing business‑related changes in respect of safety risks.
* Managing external organizations participating within SMS activities.
* Continuously improving safety communications within the Organization.
* Managing anonymous reports in line with “Just Culture”, ensuring confidentiality rules have been applied.
* Reviewing sources of information used for safety communications, including safety data used for management decision making.
Qualifications
* Previous holder of Form 4 approval is preferred, but not mandatory.
* Experience working in the aviation industry is preferred.
* Relevant engineering or technical degree, or an aircraft technician or maintenance engineer qualification with additional education.
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EASA and UKCAA regulations (related to Part‑145/CAMO/Part IS and Part‑21).
* Practical experience and expertise in the application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
* Safety management experience (at least 12 months in a safety management function).
* Five years relevant work experience of which at least two years should be from the aeronautical industry.
* Comprehensive knowledge of industry Safety Management System requirements.
* Knowledge of auditing techniques and root cause analysis methodologies including planning, conducting, and reporting.
* Effective interpersonal skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Highly self‑motivated and proactive with a willingness to take initiative.
* Ability to work independently and to take responsibility.
* Flexible approach to work to meet operational requirements.
* Proficient in MS Office suite and comfortable learning new systems.
* Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement tools/techniques.
* A valid passport with the unrestricted right to travel in the European Union and a valid driver’s license.
* Very good command of written and spoken English.
* Preferably a security clearance to enter the aviation security areas.
