Job Title: Senior Bookkeeper Location: Hybrid (Chichester area) or Full Office-Based Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to take a key role within a well-established and growing business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across day-to-day and strategic finance functions. This position offers flexibility to work hybrid or full office-based in Chichester, depending on preference and business needs. You will report to senior management and work closely with operational and administrative teams to support ongoing growth and financial performance. Key Responsibilities Oversee and maintain all bookkeeping functions including sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, and reconciliations. Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements. Process payroll and pensions accurately and on time. Produce monthly management accounts and assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements. Manage cash flow, payments, and credit control processes. Monitor project and job costing, ensuring accurate allocation and reporting. Support budgeting and forecasting activities with accurate financial data. Review and improve accounting procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and financial stakeholders as required. Skills & Experience Required Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior bookkeeping or accounting role. Strong working knowledge of Xero, Sage, or similar accounting software. Excellent understanding of UK GAAP and statutory financial requirements. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organisational skills. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Strong analytical and communication skills. Experience within a technical services, construction, or project-based environment advantageous. AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience preferred
