Field Service Engineer (Mechanical)
Employment type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: Main depot based in Haydock (Field based role)
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 per annum + Overtime (Circa £2,000 - £5,000) + Van + Fuel Card + Company Benefits
On Call: On call every 1 in 4 weekends
The Role/Company
We are currently working with a reputable engineering services supplier specializing in the milling and pelleting industries across the UK. Due to growth, they are seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover a main site in Haydock and additional sites nationwide. The ideal candidate will have mechanical engineering experience with heavy machinery such as gearboxes, drive shafts, hydraulics, pumps, pellet mills, conditionners, feeders, motors, conveyors, and hoppers.
Responsibilities
* Perform maintenance and repairs on pellet mill equipment in environments such as farming, biomass, energy, waste, and other milling processes across the UK.
* Conduct regular maintenance and repairs, collaborating with customers to maximize production.
* Visit customer sites with service personnel for equipment servicing, maintenance, and repairs.
* Identify capacity limitations and underperforming equipment, communicating findings to customers and internal teams.
* Manage time effectively to meet customer deadlines.
* Work as part of a flexible, dedicated maintenance team.
* Be prepared for working away from home and occasional weekend work.
* Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs with flexibility.
Experience/Skills required
* Expertise in mechanical maintenance is essential.
* Strong understanding of mechanical principles.
* Practical troubleshooting skills and knowledge of preventive maintenance.
* Experience working in heavy industrial environments.
* Experience maintaining gearboxes, bearings, etc.
* Engineering qualification.
* Welding experience is advantageous.
* Flexibility to travel and spend 2-3 nights away per week.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
