What we are recruiting for:
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Manager - Building Services, to work on a large office refurbishment project in central London.
The Senior Project Manager - Building Services is responsible for providing leadership, management and excellence across all engineering services. This role ensures that mechanical and electrical (MEP) services are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, to cost, and to the high standards required by the business and associated stakeholders. You will integrate with multi-disciplinary project teams throughout the project lifecycle—from procurement and construction through to completion and close-out.
Key responsibilities:
This role is responsible for oversight and management of the Building Services function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant M&E systems across the business unit or region.
The Senior Building Services Manager manages and mentors the Building Services
team, and ensures that all construction operations adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
They drive continuous improvement in commissioning and handover processes, coordinate with commercial teams to manage cost control, value engineering, and potential disputes related to M&E scope, and review all major subcontractor technical submissions, samples, and mock-ups before client presentation.
The role further includes managing and maintaining key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the client, design team, and supply chain at a strategic level.
They attend and contribute to executive-level reporting processes (e.g., Project in [Text Wrapping Break]Delivery, or PID), communicate lessons learned to the projects and the wider business to enhance future performance, and ensure that appropriate, talented resources are available by actively recruiting and managing talent within the Building Services discipline.
Essential Credentials:
* Appropriate CSCS card for the role
* Preferably qualified with a degree in building services, or mechanical or electrical engineering, will consider relevant HNC or HND qualifications.
* Professional memberships; CIOB, RICS, CIBSE or similar
Essential Skills:
* High emotional intelligence and able to demonstrate key leadership skills.
* Proven track record of delivering successful construction projects.
* Management and mentoring of staff and development of skills.
* Experience of project planning and resource allocation & managing design teams.
* Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and lead the construction delivery team and construction workforce.
* Demonstrate an ability to be flexible in recognising where working methods require adapting and changing to suit a change in project needs or new challenges.
* Demonstrate an ability to ensure delivery of work packages and in places betterment of commercial targets.
* Ability to provide leadership in the creation of skills, well-being and develop a supportive work environment for delivery staff.
* Ability to manage the project delivery within a timely manner to ensure the maximum outcomes for the client and Bovis
Essential Knowledge:
* An in-depth knowledge of the construction process and construction methods.
* Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures.
* Expert knowledge of the construction industry.
* Understanding of programme duration and sequencing of works of relevant aspects of construction
1. Essential Experience:
* Background in design, construction & delivery process including design management experience with a main contractor on building services packages above £30m in value.
* Sound knowledge of Construction methodology, process and sequence.
* Experience of User group interface and stakeholder engagement.
* Pre-construction and site establishment experience.
* Experience of dealing with clients, contractors and construction activities.
* Design, procurement, construction and delivery experience.
* Experience in the delivery of medium to large scale residential new build projects (£50m + in construction value).
* Demonstratable experience of the delivery of major commercial office buildings.
* Experienced with and capable of being part of a bid team and undertaking pre-construction planning.
Desirable Experience:
* Experience in delivering NABERS, SMART, BREEAM, OUTSTANDING commercial-spec office buildings
