Role Overview: Product & Specification Manager – Firestop

This is a technically demanding role requiring strong competency in fire protection engineering, construction design standards, product compliance frameworks, and façade/firestop system integration.

You will lead the full lifecycle of the Cavity Barrier portfolio—ranging from R&D coordination and standards testing to technical documentation, specification development, supply chain readiness, and high‑level customer/engineer advisory work. The role requires regular interface with project engineers, OEM partners, specialist installers, internal technical teams, and external regulatory or certification bodies.



Core Technical Responsibilities

Product Development & Compliance

* Lead the technical development of the Firestop portfolio including involvement in testing and certification
* Ensure all Firestop products achieve and maintain conformity with required industry standards and certification pathways, including test evidence updates, classification reports, installation guidelines, and technical documentation.



Engineering Support & Specification

* Provide advanced technical input to façade, firestop and passive fire protection specifications
* Providing technical support on site if required
* Support international fischer subsidiaries in market introduction of cavity barriers

Customer & Industry Engagement

* Act as a high‑level technical contact for key engineering consultants, façade specialists, passive fire protection installers and contractor teams.
* Conduct on‑site technical demonstrations, installation audits and training for Technical Support Engineers (TSEs) and customers.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

* Coordinate product availability and stock planning with Purchasing and Logistics to ensure alignment between technical demand forecasts and supply chain readiness.
* Support the Marketing team with technically valid content, ensuring literature, datasheets, website content and graphical representations meet engineering accuracy standards.



Technical Competencies & Qualifications

* Degree‑level education in construction, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, fire engineering or similar discipline; alternatively, substantial technical experience in Firestop, façade engineering, or construction product management.
* Proven technical grounding in passive fire protection systems preferably cavity barriers, rainscreen façades or fixings engineering.
* Familiarity with Firestop testing and approval frameworks (BS EN standards) is highly advantageous.
* Deep understanding of construction sequencing, site procedures, structural interfaces and installation tolerances.
* Ability to independently assess, interpret and communicate technical data, including load calculations, fire classification reports, and installation requirements.
