Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their development and learning? Are you keen to develop new skills? Come and join our fantastic team at Foreland Fields School!
Our pupils and students have a wide range of profound, severe and complex needs, including difficulties with communication, learning, physical and sensory development as well as medical and care needs. Classes are needs led and pupils and students follow personalised learning journeys along different curriculum pathways, depending on their individual needs.
Due to the rapid expansion of our school, we are looking for an Assistant Headteacher to join our team from September 2026.
We are looking for a senior leader to undertake the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead, taking overall responsibility for safeguarding and child protection (including online safety).
The successful candidate will also assume the role of designated Teacher for Looked After Children as well as other responsibilities related to safer recruitment, attendance and premium expenditure.
Foreland Fields School is highly committed to improving the life chances of our pupils and students and to the raising of standards throughout school. We place a firm emphasis upon the knowledge and skills needed in later life, working in partnership with parents and outside agencies to achieve this.
The successful candidate will need to be able to:
1. Respond to safeguarding concerns in a timely manner. Work closely with the extended safeguarding team to implement actions related to safeguarding concerns.
2. Monitor student absence, promoting good attendance and take appropriate action when absence causes concern.
3. Take part in the monitoring of progress of vulnerable groups in discussions with class teachers and pathway leads, and ensure that premium expenditure is effectively delegated to improve outcomes for vulnerable students. Report on premium expenditure.
4. Ensure that the school’s robust recruitment procedures and checks for appointing staff and volunteers guarantee that everyone working at the school is suitable to work with children.
5. Provide and/or coordinate pastoral support to pupils in relation to behaviour, confidence and self-esteem and relationships with peers or adults
We can offer you:
6. A friendly and welcoming school community
7. A rights respecting ethos, where the best interests of every child are a priority
8. Committed, hard-working supportive specialist staff and governing body
9. A well-resourced and rich learning environment
10. A coaching culture, with a comprehensive weekly CPD programme and opportunities for professional development
