Job Description:
About the role
We’re looking for an HGV Driver (C E) with proven experience of transport legislation compliance, including driver’s hours regulations and the Working Time Directive, in line with ‘O’ licence legislation and company procedures.
Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and compliant vehicle, conducting pre-use checks, defect reporting, and ensuring DVSA requirements are met. You will also be responsible for the safe loading and unloading of tipper trailers, adhering to health and safety standards, and promoting a safety-first culture.
At Northumbrian Water, we are committed to environmental sustainability. You will adopt a fuel-efficient driving style to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
Customer service is key; you will deliver excellent service to our wastewater teams, representing our brand positively.
About you:
You need a C E licence with at least 12 months of Class 1 driving experience, a valid tachograph card, and Driver CPC. Knowledge of EU Drivers Hours rules and Working Time Regulations is essential. Night shift work from 6 pm to 5:30 am is required, with opportunities for overtime. Tanker experience is preferred but not mandatory, as training will be provided.
We value diversity, inclusion, and equity and encourage all applicants to apply. A DBS check is required before employment. NWG supports offender rehabilitation but cannot consider candidates with certain unspent convictions to ensure a safe working environment.
About us
NWG aims to be a great place to work, embracing diversity and inclusion. We provide reliable water and wastewater services, operating efficiently and sustainably to serve our communities now and in the future.
Our benefits
We offer a range of benefits, including generous holiday entitlement, pension scheme with employer contributions, discounts, wellbeing support, sustainable travel options, financial wellbeing support, development opportunities, and more.
This role is safety-critical; a drug and alcohol test will be required before employment, with potential consequences for failing the test.
