Our Area Operations North team has a fantastic opportunity for an Overhead Line Worker to join them in Penrith. The team is responsible for carrying out the maintenance, repair and refurbishment activities on overhead lines to ensure a reliable and efficient electricity supply for customers. You will participate in the construction and refurbishment of the overhead power distribution network and in fault location and repair work. This work occurs during normal hours and after hours when required, with the goal of minimising interruptions to customers’ electricity supplies.
Responsibilities
* Report on progress to enable colleagues within the Customer Contact Centre to keep customers informed at all times.
* Be part of the team responsible for the inspection and maintenance of various items of overhead plant.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
* NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in an electrically biased subject or equivalent.
* A current HV/LV Limited Authorisation for overhead line work on the SP Electricity North West network or another DNO.
* Proven experience working at height.
* Fully proficient in the use of overhead line equipment, winches, MEWPs, tracked excavators, etc.
* Qualified to carry out pole top rescue.
* Extensive knowledge of safety requirements for working on and around overhead power lines.
* Experience in leading and/or being a member of a working party under a safety document.
* Familiar with working in accordance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, processes and procedures.
* Hold a full, valid UK driving licence (essential) with an HGV licence (desirable).
* Experience in off-road driving.
* The ability to complete paperwork relating to work-based activities (essential).
