Our client, a prominent company within the Defence & Security sector, is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to join their team on a contract basis in Barrow. The position comes with a hybrid working arrangement, combining on‑site presence with remote work.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading planning, monitoring, and control activities within the project environment
* Lead for cost control across the AVC project, ensuring the budget is adhered to on a day‑to‑day basis and aligned with the forecast
* Updating the spend forecast and articulating any cost variances
* Developing the estimate of completion (EAC)
* Undertaking advanced problem solving based on previous experience
* Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of business processes and procedures
* Administrative and general office skills, including spreadsheets and Microsoft packages
* Attending on‑the‑job training as appropriate
* Leading the PM&C processes on a small project or a work package of a larger project
Job Requirements
* Extensive experience in project control within the Defence & Security sector
* Experience as a Cost Lead Expert
* Exceptional leadership and team collaboration skills
* Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
* Fluency in Excel – SAP desirable; familiarity with planning tools such as P6 advantageous but not essential
