Job Title: Assistant Depot Manager

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Depot Manager to support the day-to-day operations of a busy hire depot in the South East. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in equipment or generator hire who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
* Supervise and support key depot functions, including:
* Hire Desk
* Generator PDI Team
* Electrical PDI Team
* Transport & Logistics Team
* Oversee the complete generator hire process, ensuring efficient and timely service delivery
* Liaise with the Asset Management team to maintain optimal stock and fleet availability
Customer Service & Relationship Management
* Act as the escalation point for high-profile or complex customer enquiries
* Support and mentor Rental Controllers to uphold excellent service standards
* Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all equipment meets relevant safety, compliance, and company standards
* Oversee depot health and safety procedures, promoting a culture of safety and accountability
* Maintain high standards across the site, ensuring it reflects company values
Reporting & Analysis
* Provide regular performance updates and operational reports to the Depot Manager
* Use data to drive performance improvements and process optimisation
* Monitor customer satisfaction and team performance metrics
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in a leadership role within the equipment hire or power generation sector
* Strong commercial understanding of generator or plant hire operations
* Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams including drivers, engineers, internal sales, and administrators
* Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
* Proficiency in rental management systems/software
* Strong knowledge of health & safety and industry compliance standards
