Manager of Operations - Wrexham
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Hours: Typically 8:00am - 5:00pm (flexibility required)
A busy cold store and logistics operation in Wrexham is seeking a highly experienced and agile Manager of Operations to take ownership of onsite performance. This role requires a committed, driven, and confident leader who can guide teams effectively and maintain high operational standards. Ideal for someone operating at Shift Manager level or above, with a strong understanding of warehouse flow and cold storage environments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Manage and support Cold Store Operators across 4 shift patterns.
Lead by example, demonstrating strong presence, accountability, and consistency.
Act as the main operational lead in the absence of senior site management.
Work flexibly across all areas of the operation, including hands‑on bay work when required (Counterbalance/Reach Truck licences advantageous).
Customer Experience
Work closely with Customer Service and Administration teams.
Provide flexible, solutions‑focused support to customers.
Handle issues and complaints professionally and efficiently.
Attend customer meetings and performance reviews.
Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Represent the business with confidence when required.
Quality, Safety & Culture
Maintain and promote exceptional health & safety standards.
Drive a "quality first" culture across all shifts.
Support LEAN and continuous improvement projects.
Ensure full compliance with food safety, temperature control, and high‑bay operational processes.
Operational Expertise
Strong logistics background; cold store experience highly beneficial.
Understanding of blast freezing, crystallisation, and food safety standards.
Familiarity with high‑bay automation and production flows.
Ability to balance hands‑on operational involvement with strategic leadership.
People Management
Support recruitment, onboarding, and development of staff.
Manage day‑to‑day people matters including performance, absence, and welfare.
Encourage progression, strong cultural values, and operational discipline.
Collaborate with other managers as a dependable senior figure.
Systems & Reporting
Competent with Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
Provide accurate reporting and operational updates to senior management.
Contribute to wider projects and site improvement initiatives.

Experience as a Shift Manager or Operations Manager in a logistics environment.
