Technical Advisor & Estimator (Manufacturing)
A well-established engineering organisation is seeking a highly capable Technical Advisor & Estimator to join its UK operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to play a key role in delivering complex manufacturing tenders and supporting operational excellence within a dynamic project environment.
The Role
Acting as a central technical authority, the successful candidate will lead and coordinate tendering activities across a range of manufacturing projects, from standard submissions to high-value, complex bids. This position plays a critical role in shaping project success during the “win” phase while also providing ongoing technical guidance throughout project delivery.
The role involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders, clients, and supply chain partners, ensuring that all proposals are competitive, technically robust, and aligned with operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the full tendering and estimation process, including pre-tender analysis and execution strategy
* Prepare and coordinate high-quality bid submissions, including ITTs, RFQs, and RFPs
* Estimate manufacturing hours and integrate multiple service lines into cohesive proposals
* Support internal bid reviews and decision-making processes (bid/no-bid)
* Provide technical advisory support across welding and fabrication activities
* Liaise with clients to clarify requirements and gather post-tender feedback
* Contribute to QA/QC processes and ensure adherence to industry standards
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and competitive proposals
* Maintain strong engagement with internal teams and external stakeholders
About You
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in heavy engineering or manufacturing, with proven experience in tendering and estimation.
You will have:
* HNC in Mechanical Engineering, a relevant trade background, or equivalent experience
* At least 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or heavy engineering environments
* Strong technical knowledge of welding (flux core) and fabrication processes
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
* Experience preparing and submitting tender proposals
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
* A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong problem-solving abilities
