An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced CAMHS Clinician to join the Adolescent Outreach Team (AOT) in Haringey CAMHS as Senior Practitioner. The AOT works with young people, aged 12‑18, presenting with acute mental health needs and significant levels of risk to self or others. This multidisciplinary team includes Psychiatry, Psychology, Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers, Family Therapists, and other CAMHS Clinicians. The team offers short‑term intensive support, requiring holistic assessment, risk formulation, and intervention. AOT provides support to young people and their families, focusing on managing mental health needs and reducing risk‑taking behaviour. Clinicians work closely with schools, children’s services and other mental health providers to promote a young person’s emotional wellbeing, safety and recovery.
Main duties of the job
• Participate in the AOT rapid response to urgent cases, including assessment, outreach, monitoring of risk, mental state, and medication side effects, and liaising with clinicians involved with the case. • Utilize skills flexibly to plan and implement interventions for clients at home and in other settings. • Offer clinical support staff for specialist assessment and treatment of children and young people and their families with complex and severe mental health problems, in line with the iThrive model. • Take part in case conferences, review meetings and planning meetings as appropriate. • Provide advice to other professionals within CAMHS and externally, sharing expertise in complex case management. • Offer specialist consultation to families and others involved in the care of the young person. • Communicate clearly and sensitively, providing assessment, formulation and treatment plans for service users and monitoring progress. • Work in partnership with key agencies to ensure easy access for children and families into CAMHS.
Job responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessments of adolescents and their families/carers with complex mental health needs. • Manage and coordinate a caseload within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care programmes. • Offer direct therapeutic intervention to young people and their parents/caregivers in the short/medium term. • Participate in the AOT duty system on a rotational basis; independently assess risk, develop discharge safety plans and provide follow‑up in the community, acting as a Key Worker/Care Coordinator. • Write confidential reports for case conferences and education, with wide‑ranging implications. • Adhere to Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) Guidelines, legislation relating to child protection and safeguarding. • Commit to equality of opportunity and access for young people from diverse backgrounds. • Offer consultation and advice to colleagues in Tier 1 and 2 regarding adolescent mental health needs in the community. • Undertake administrative tasks related to clinical work, maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date clinical records in accordance with Trust policies. • Provide intensive in‑reach for young people admitted to in‑patient care, both within the Trust and to specialist out‑of‑area facilities, ensuring continuity and coordination of care. • Participate in audit and research projects undertaken by the service.
Qualifications
* Professional qualification (RMN) with current registration with relevant body.
* Evidence of mental health training.
* Evidence of continued relevant professional development.
* Educated to degree level or equivalent gained through experience.
* Recent experience in a managerial position.

Experience & Knowledge
* Extensive clinical experience in a mental health setting.
* Support others with complex clinical decision‑making and lead MDT discussion on this topic.
* High flexibility and ability to travel across the boroughs to engage service users in diverse community settings.
* Recent experience of working in a primary care setting.
* Recent managerial experience.

£55,524 to £62,652 per annum including HCAS.
