Job Summary
Ambulatory care is an innovative way of providing a safe, patient focused, flexible, same day emergency service for appropriate patients. The service aims to prevent unnecessary hospital admission and provide a better patient's experience. Our Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) offers easy access to early diagnostic tests, specialist staff, and review by a hospital consultant in one place.

We are looking for exceptional, committed, caring and compassionate Band 6 Deputy Sister/Deputy Charge Nurse to join our dedicated multi-disciplinary team. The successful applicant will be forward thinking, pro-active and motivated to assist in providing the highest standard of care to our patients possible whilst treating our patients with dignity, compassion and respect. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work within the ACU team.

Please note that we can only consider applications from individuals with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN, as we are currently unable to support OSCE.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will have responsibility for triage of patient referrals, ongoing assessment of care, timely patient interventions and discharge. Successful applicants will have a minimum of 2 years' experience as a band 5 staff nurse within an acute medical setting, you should possess a wide range of appropriate clinical skills and have a keen interest in developing their career in Emergency Care.

Job Description


Job responsibilities

Supporting junior staff members, and a willingness to mentor both students and new staff is also an important aspect of this post. You will have the opportunity to enhance and develop your skills through preceptorship and formal educational development within this busy dynamic area. Leadership skills including role modelling and leading by example are very important to this role.

Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are desirable, however full training will be given. In addition you will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service to our patients.

* Registered Nurse NMC
* Evidence of leadership qualities
* Mentorship / Preceptorship experience
* Expert clinical role model, committed to improve standards and patient care
* ILS trained

* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Post registration qualification relevant to clinical speciality
