About The Role Community Resilience Coordinator Location: Northern Scotland, with travel around the area including Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Moray & Angus
Salary: £, to £, per annum pro-rata Hours: per week Contract: Fixed term contract Make a real impact in communities across Northern Scotland.

At the British Red Cross, we help people prepare for, withstand, and recover from crises. Our Community Resilience programme strengthens local organisations, builds preparedness, and empowers communities to coordinate their own support when emergencies happen.

We’re now looking for a Community Resilience Coordinator to help grow and support the Community Resilience Hubs Programme across Northern Scotland, funded by SSEN. If you are passionate about community empowerment, partnership working, and engaging with diverse local groups — this could be your ideal role.

What you’ll be doing

As a Community Resilience Coordinator, you will:

Build Stronger Communities
1. Engage with local authorities, voluntary sector partners, faith groups and community organisations.
2. Foster trusted relationships and support collaboration across the region.
Deliver Training & Preparedness Activities
3. Develop and run bespoke workshops, training sessions, and exercises using co-production and community engagement methods.
4. Help communities identify their vulnerabilities, strengths, and resources through participatory mapping and risk assessment.
Support and Recruit Community Advocates
5. Recruit and support local advocates and volunteers.
6. Help design scalable volunteer support and training resources.
Coordinate Community Needs & Assets
7. Assist groups in conducting environmental scans, social network analysis and assets mapping.
8. Work with internal BRC teams to analyse data and contribute to digital community resilience maps.
Strengthen the Programme
9. Contribute to newsletters, reports, evaluations, and research activities.
10. Support the development of tools and best practice to enhance the national Community Resilience approach.
What we’re looking for Essential experience and skills
11. Strong knowledge and practical experience of community engagement and community organising.
12. Experience developing, coordinating, and delivering workshops with community groups.
13. Ability to motivate and engage people from diverse backgrounds.
14. Confident working remotely and managing competing priorities.
15. Competent with Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
16. Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
Desirable
17. Experience in resilience or emergency planning.
18. Experience recruiting or coordinating volunteers.
19. Skills in participatory mapping, data analysis, or using digital mapping tools.
20. Ability to design user‑centred training or services.
