Position: Senior Software Engineer Employment Type: Contract, Full time Start: ASAP Location: Sheffield – Hybrid 3 days a week Languages: English Role – We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team in delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance systems on Public Cloud platforms. This role is ideal for someone with a strong software engineering background who is also well-versed in modern DevOps practices, cloud infrastructure, and microservices architecture. You’ll play a critical role in designing and building backend services, infrastructure automation, and client-facing components in a secure, high-availability environment at one of the world’s leading financial institutions. Key skills: Proven experience with Public Cloud platforms (AWS and/or GCP). Strong background in building and maintaining compute, storage, and networking infrastructure. Proficiency in Linux systems and automation scripting (Terraform, Ansible, etc.). Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Expertise in building and consuming RESTful APIs. Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, and serverless functions. Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed tracing. Experience with enterprise-grade monitoring and logging frameworks. Comfortable working with CI/CD and continuous testing tools. Programming experience in at least Python, Java, or GoLang. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in Agile development environments. Consulting background is a plus. Strong communication skills (oral & written) Rights to work in the UK is must (No Sponsorship available) Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain highly available RESTful APIs and frontend clients using Python, GoLang, Docker, and Cloud-Native services. Manage infrastructure automation and provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, and other IAC tools across AWS and GCP. Implement and manage schema changes and migrations using Liquibase, ensuring compliance and traceability. Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with DevOps and Security to enforce compliance, testing, and delivery best practices. Monitor, maintain, and optimize infrastructure and services with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/Splunk for observability. Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to meet security, compliance, and governance standards. Support live environments with incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation for performance and availability issues. Develop microservices that are observable, testable, and easily deployable within Kubernetes and serverless environments.
