Are you passionate about preserving vital records and ensuring the integrity of historical information? Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Archivist for a fixed-term position for 6 to 10 months within our Oxfordshire Health Archives. This temporary role is crucial for maintaining, organising, and safeguarding our archives, ensuring that key documents are accessible for both present needs and future generations.

As an Archivist, you will manage the storage, cataloguing, and retrieval of records, support compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and assist internal and external stakeholders in accessing archived materials. You will play a key part in supporting the Trust's mission by protecting sensitive information and upholding the highest standards of data stewardship.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality. Experience with archival management systems, a collaborative approach to working within a team and ability to supervise an archives assistant are essential.


Main duties of the job

In all cases for the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospitals NHS Trust and the Department of Health:

* To carry out the statutory functions required under the Public Records Acts.
* To run the Archives Department
* To advise on the care and administration of semi-current and recent records
* To advise on legislation relating to record keeping.

Person Specification


Knowledge

* Understanding of the requirements and obligations of Public Records Act, Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act and Knowledge of palaeography and history of land law
* Management of Staff


Qualifications

* Professional Archives Qualification


Experience

* Experience in using CALM and Keeping up to date with current legislation and professional development


Skills

* Strong communication skills in all media
* Ability to apply and keep to deadlines
* Ability to set priorities
* Computer literacy in Microsoft systems


Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
