An exciting opportunity has arisen for Operational Support Officers to join the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub, which supports Bowel Cancer Screening Services for a population of 8.85 million.
As a competent administrator and supervisor, the post holder will support the Bowel Cancer Screening Management Team in leading and managing the day-to-day coordination of the team. Duties will include staff supervision, coordination of all Hub functions—including liaison with screening centres, analytical testing, and reporting of returned faecal samples—acting as a point of contact on the national Freephone helpline, and managing outgoing mail (invitations, reminders, test packs, and results) using bespoke software and complex mailroom equipment as part of the call and re-call of the national programme.
The Operational Support Officer will also support the expanding scope of services provided by the North East Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Hub, including Lynch surveillance, BCSP age extension, projects supporting equity of access, and new research and development initiatives. The role includes monitoring processes within the BCSP to ensure high standards, compliance with UKAS and SQAS standards.
