Are you an experienced pastoral or safeguarding professional with a passion for supporting vulnerable students and their families?
We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN provision for a Strategic Lead for Family Engagement & Pastoral Care — a key senior role designed to bridge home, school, and external agencies in supporting pupils with complex needs.
This is a non-teaching leadership post that plays a central role in behaviour support, EHCP management, safeguarding, and family liaison.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead weekly positive communication between school and families
2. Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
3. Manage behaviour and wellbeing plans for students
4. Support reintegration after suspensions and behaviour incidents
5. Oversee EHCP review planning and follow-ups
6. Collaborate with social care, Early Help, and external professionals
7. Conduct home visits, attend professional meetings, and keep accurate records (CPOMS)
8. Help develop site-wide strategies for family engagement and pastoral care
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
9. Previous experience in safeguarding, pastoral care, or SEN support
10. Strong working knowledge of EHCPs, CPOMS, and multi-agency working
11. Ability to build trusted relationships with families and staff
12. Experience leading or contributing to behaviour and wellbeing planning
13. A calm, proactive and emotionally intelligent approach
14. Willingness to work flexibly across site and from home (where appropriate)
15. DSL/DDSL training is desirable – or willingness to complete it
Job Details:
16. Hours: 40 per week
On-site minimum: 9am–3pm (rest can be remote if targets are met)
17. Salary: £30,000 per annum
18. Type: Full-Time, Permanent
