Nursing Associate - Clinical Immunology

You will work in a small specialist team alongside 2 Consultant Immunologists, Nurse Consultant, Trainee Advanced Practitioner and 2 Clinical Nurse Specialists caring for patients with Immunodeficiency and Allergy. The role is diverse, and training will be provided by the Immunology team. You will be working in the Outpatients department and the Brooke treatment unit at Salford Care Organisation.
The post is Part time and has fixed working days - Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday
Candidates must already have a valid NMC PIN - essential criteria.

Main duties of the job
The role involves supporting and delivering treatment to Immunology and Allergy patients under supervision of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Nurse Consultant and/or medical staff. Role‑specific duties require prior training before independent practice.
Outpatient Clinic (OPD)
* Ensure patients have up-to-date vaccine prescriptions.
* Administer intramuscular vaccines (e.g. pneumococcal) with CNS second check.
* Maintain adequate vaccine and skin prick test stock, arrange procurement, and keep clinic areas tidy.
* Update patient information boards and collect patient feedback.
Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
* Attend and contribute to weekly MDT meetings and teaching sessions.
* Plan weekly BTU activity, including medication procurement.
Brooke Treatment Unit (BTU)
* Perform venepuncture, cannulation, and patient observations.
* Assess patient suitability for treatment and liaise with CNS.
* Administer treatments under supervision with a second check, including Omalizumab, immunoglobulin therapies, venom and pollen immunotherapy.
* Conduct allergy testing, adrenaline auto‑injector training, and immunoglobulin home therapy training.
* Support allergy challenges under direct supervision.
Additional Duties
* Undertake audits, maintain patient databases, perform daily fridge temperature checks.
* Support patient engagement activities such as education events and support groups.
Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC.
* Foundation Degree.
* GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent (not entry level 2).
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Willingness to undertake relevant training for Allergy and Immunology.
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development.
* Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and elevate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice.
* Understand requirements for NMC professional revalidation.
* Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans.
* Previous experience of working in a day unit or Outpatient setting.
* Knowledge of anaphylaxis and BLS training.
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to organise and prioritise own delegated workload.
* Ability to communicate effectively (written, verbal and non‑verbal) with patients/relatives and carers and all members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Ability to develop effective and appropriate relationships with people, their families, carers and colleagues.
* Have effective time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
* Maintain high standards of quality in record keeping ensuring information is always recorded accurately and appropriately.
* Venepuncture.

* BLS.
