Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Sub Agent to support delivery on a major infrastructure project at Lower Thames Crossing. The successful candidate will work closely with the Package Manager and site teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, quality, and environmental requirements.
This role requires strong leadership, planning, and coordination skills, with proven experience in large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Maintain a safe working environment in line with the Construction Phase Plan and project procedures.
Promote a strong health and safety culture across all site activities.
Produce Works Package Plans for self-delivered works and review subcontractor safety documentation.
Programme & Planning
Support the Package Manager in planning self-delivered works and coordinating subcontractor and third-party programmes.
Monitor progress and drive delivery to meet or exceed programme milestones.
Deputise for the Package Manager to chair Short Interval Control planning meetings when required.
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, designers, and other stakeholders to maintain smooth project delivery.
Identify issues early and implement timely and effective solutions.
Quality Assurance
Assist in managing project quality requirements and ensure teams understand specifications.
Produce and review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for self-delivered and subcontract works.
Support preparation of material approvals alongside engineering teams.
Community & Social Value
Provide relevant information to communications teams to support stakeholder engagement.
Assist in delivering the project's social value commitments.
Environment & Carbon
Support compliance with the Environmental Management Plan and project carbon reduction targets.
Reporting & Cost Control
Provide accurate progress reports to the Package Manager and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
Assist in budget monitoring, cost control, and maintaining accurate resource records.
Procurement
Produce technical scopes for tender documentation.
Prepare requisitions for plant and materials in accordance with procurement procedures.
Support and guide Site/Section Engineers on procurement and compliance processes.
Design Management
Deputise in design and RFI meetings where required.
Manage design changes and coordinate subcontractor design information with consultants and document control teams.
Handover
Ensure handover documentation is completed in line with scope and programme, including:
Construction certificates
As-built records
O&M manuals
Health & Safety files
Leadership
Provide leadership and mentorship to Section Engineers, Site Engineers, and Apprentices within the team.
About You
Ideally, you will have:
Proven experience working as a Sub Agent or in a similar role on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent knowledge of construction legislation, industry best practice, and NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet demanding project deadlines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Construction Management
Full UK Driving Licence
CSCS Card
