In partnership with the University of Greater Manchester - Bolton, this unique opportunity allows you to earn while you learn, working towards a BSc (Hons) in Construction Project Management through a 3-year part-time apprenticeship programme. Learn more about our work here: npssolar.co.uk Year 1 – Foundation & Learning Assist with the basic design and layout of solar PV systems using CAD and specialist software Shadow project managers to understand planning, scheduling, and budgeting processes Participate in site visits and surveys, supporting the preparation of risk assessments and health & safety documentation Support the collection and organisation of project data, drawings, and documentation Communicate with suppliers and internal teams under supervision Begin to develop knowledge of industry regulations, design standards, and construction procedures Attend university one day per week and complete all required assignments and coursework Year 2 – Development & Application Take a more active role in producing system designs, technical specifications, and layout drawings Contribute to project planning and coordination, including scheduling and progress tracking Assist in client communication, contributing to technical discussions and updates Play a supporting role in procurement and logistics, helping to manage materials and deliveries to site Draft basic reports and contribute to project documentation and performance monitoring Apply growing knowledge of health & safety and compliance in project activities Begin contributing ideas to process improvement and project efficiency Year 3 – Contribution & Leadership Lead aspects of design work under guidance, including technical specifications and system layouts Manage small project elements or workstreams, with responsibility for planning, timelines, and reporting Act as a point of contact for clients or subcontractors on specific tasks or projects Take ownership of documentation, reporting, and supporting site-based decision-making Lead risk assessments and assist in developing site-specific safety plans Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across design and delivery Represent NPS Energy Ltd at events, exhibitions, and client meetings with increasing confidence and independence Apply academic learning directly to real-world challenges and support the mentoring of new apprentices or team members Why NPS? Requirements We’re seeking someone who is not only ready to learn but who also shares our passion for renewable energy and sustainability. The ideal candidate will demonstrate: Enthusiasm for Renewable Energy and Sustainability Integrity and a strong work ethic Willingness to learn and take initiative Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability A team player with a positive mindset Good written and verbal communication skills Basic knowledge of CAD or design software Strong organisational and time management skills Confidence to work independently or as part of a team Competence in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) An awareness of Health & Safety in construction environments A full UK driving licence (or actively working towards obtaining one) University Criteria Applicants should hold an HNC/HND in Construction and the Built Environment (or equivalent qualifications appropriately mapped on an individual basis to University of Greater Manchester - Bolton Level 4 modules). Applicants should have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics. Have valid residency status and the right to work in England and can provide a valid BRP card (valid beyond the end date of the programme, including End-Point Assessment (EPA)), and a ‘Right to Work’ share code for validation.
