We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Ecologist to work on a broad variety of projects. You will play a key role in delivering ecological surveys, assessments, and mitigation strategies across a range of projects, from infrastructure and development to conservation and biodiversity enhancement.
Key responsibilities include:
Duties & Responsibilities
* Conducting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), and protected species surveys (e.g., bats, GCN, reptiles, badgers).
* Preparing high-quality ecological reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, and mitigation plans.
* Supporting project management tasks including client liaison and scheduling.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, planning policy, and best practice guidance.
* Liaising with stakeholders including clients, planning authorities, and conservation bodies.
* The ability to complete PEA’s on small to medium size green and brownfield sites independently and is confident in the use of the UK habitat classification system.
* Able to undertake Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments on small to medium size green and brownfield sites independently using the Statutory metric.
* Demonstrable ability to provide clear, succinct and robust technical reports, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, and protected species surveys.
* Experience with GIS mapping and data analysis.
* A clear understanding of relevant UK wide environmental /ecological policy and legislation.
* A Degree in Ecology or similar
* Membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
* Ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW) experience
