Job Description
We are a Civil Engineering contractor with an established presence in the public and private sector. We look to employ a highly skilled and experienced Civil Estimator to join our team. As a Senior Civil Estimator, you will play a crucial role in our civil construction projects, working with both government sectors and private developers.
Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive cost estimates for civil construction projects.
* Analyze project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure accuracy.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather project requirements.
* Identify and quantify project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
* Perform quantity take-offs and review client provided bills of quantities.
* Utilize estimating software and tools to prepare accurate and competitive bids.
* Prepare detailed methodologies and construction schedules.
* Review and ensure the accuracy and quality of work completed by others during the tendering process.
* Monitor industry trends and market conditions to maintain competitive pricing.
* Request and review subcontractor quotes, negotiating pricing agreements when necessary.
* Ensure all submissions meet high standards and comply with tender criteria.
* Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior estimators and engineers.
* Develop and refine estimation methodologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Improve systems and procedures for better workflow in estimation and tendering.
* Maintain strong communication with the team.
* Manage workload effectively and meet strict deadlines for tenders, reports, and cost estimates.
Requirements
* Minimum of three years of experience as a estimator in the civil construction industry.
* Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, materials, and cost estimation.
* Familiarity with government sector projects.
* Proficiency in using estimating software and tools.
* Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
* Relevant degree or certification in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency required.
