Job title: Manufacturing Manager
Location: Cardiff, free parking onsite
Salary: £35,000 + bonus

As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of seven engineers across areas such as new product introduction, process development, and industrial engineering. This is a highly managerial role focused on guiding, developing, and supporting your team while driving performance and operational excellence. The role requires close collaboration with other departments throughout the full product lifecycle — from concept and quotation, through to mass production and ongoing quality improvement.
The successful candidate will be an experienced people leader, with strong problem-solving skills and a focus on continuous improvement, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and direction for a team of engineers.
* Mentor and develop team members, supporting both technical growth and professional development.
* Champion engineering quality, working closely with cross-functional partners to maintain and improve standards.
* Drive team performance through clear KPIs, focusing on quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
* Implement and refine processes to ensure effective tracking and continuous improvement.
* Lead problem-solving initiatives and foster a culture of accountability and innovation.
Essential Criteria
* Qualified to HNC level (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline.
* Proven experience in leading and developing a technical or engineering team.
* Strong understanding of product development processes and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean / Six Sigma preferred).
* Ability to interpret and work with engineering documentation.
* Excellent stakeholder management and cross-department collaboration skills.
* Demonstrated “lead by example” approach, with a positive and proactive mindset.
* Commitment to ongoing learning and development, both personally and for the team.
