DWP is seeking a Lead Analyst to join the Contract Management and Partnership Delivery (CMPD) directorate.
The role primarily involves leading a large analytical division, Contracted Health and Employment Analysis (CHEA), which supports the Director and six Deputy Directors within CMPD. The division's responsibilities include decision-making, programme design, performance management, continuous improvement, and ensuring department payments are aligned with required services and outcomes.
The successful candidate will provide critical analytical advice to stakeholders, including Ministers and HMT, supporting investment decisions, contract design, procurement, and evaluation of service provision. The role also involves leading a geographically dispersed team of approximately 50 professionals across various analytical disciplines.

The role involves setting a clear vision for analytical work within CMPD, fostering a collaborative culture, and building staff capability and engagement. The Lead Analyst will work across DWP and externally to ensure analysis supports the delivery of employment programmes like Restart, which supports hundreds of thousands of people at a cost of approximately £400m annually.
Key responsibilities include ensuring appropriate MI and analysis for decision-making, funding, and performance management of the Functional Assessment Service (FAS) contracts, which deliver around 2 million assessments per year at a cost exceeding £600m annually. The role requires providing high-level analytical advice to senior officials and external organizations, including the NAO and OBR.
As a senior civil servant and member of the Senior Analytical Leadership Team, the Lead Analyst will also contribute to broader departmental initiatives on diversity, inclusion, talent development, and capability growth.
