Reporting to the MPD Field Service Technician for Europe as our new Field Service Technician you will take responsibility for supporting and servicing all products and clients for NOV’s Managed Pressure Drilling business. within the Eastern Hemisphere. Your existing knowledge within Managed Pressure Drilling, Choke Manifold, RCD’s, and Pipework will be critical to your success in this role. As Field Service Technician you will liaise with internal stakeholders manage your daily, weekly, and monthly schedule in an efficient manner to maintain strong customer relations with the support we offer. Key to this role will be your ability to drive continual improvement processes, enhancing efficiency and performance within our industrial markets and delivering technically competent installations, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance support to our clients. You will be open to career progression and continued self-development to reach personal and business goals.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The main roles, include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide technical support for a MPD operations for all associated MPD tasks in the preparation, execution, and end of well maintenance.
* Assist MPD Field Service Supervisor in all tasks at the wellsite.
* Rig up and Rig Down MPD Equipment at the rig site.
* Maintain rigsite MPD equipment as per OEM Manuals.
* Run the MPD Panel while making connection to manage the bottom hole pressure in various control modes.
* When required, interface with controls engineer in downloading, uploading, and troubleshooting software in PLCs
* Maintain and redress the RCD Bearing Assemblies as required.
* Support shore based and workshop based activities when required.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* Must be experienced in Managed Pressure Drilling operations either directly or been involved in drilling operations.
* Experience of working with upstream drilling equipment either in and Electrical or Mechanical discipline.
* Calibration, Maintenance, Repair, Troubleshooting, including system rig up/rig down.
* Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude with troubleshooting skills, including wiring.
* Familiarity with a feedback control loop and control fundamentals including single loop controllers, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
* Ability to read and understand hydraulic set ups and process flow diagrams
* Proven track history of running RCD’s and knowledge of pressurised equipment and systems
* Understand of the fundamentals of drilling systems and process.
* Ability to understand, evaluate and apply technical information to solve problems.
* Good understanding of Risk Assessment and Mitigation process
* Effective time management skills, able to apportion time effectively to complete tasks. Adept at exercising good judgement whilst being constrained by tight deadlines.
* Good communication skills are essential to provide colleagues with the information they need to work effectively as a team
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Essential:
* ONC/HNC /HND in Engineering or City & Guilds
* Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook)
* Electrical/Mechanical knowledge within installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance environments
* Interpretation of engineering drawings
* Ample experience in similar role and environment
Desirable:
* Previous experience in drilling environment, preferably in MPD operations
* Lifting equipment, pressure testing, and pipework assembly
* Seimens Control Systems programming
* Use and troubleshoot human machine interfaces
