About the Role
We are seeking an inspirational, dedicated and experienced Head of Maths to provide strategic and operational leadership within our academy. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a department that delivers a high-quality, inclusive and ambitious curriculum, supporting pupils across all key stages. The Maths curriculum is rooted in developing secure conceptual understanding, problem‑solving confidence and a genuine enjoyment of the subject. It offers a broad and carefully sequenced programme that equips pupils with the mathematical knowledge, skills and reasoning required for success both in school and beyond.
As Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading curriculum development, staff management and departmental improvement, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes for pupils. You will provide clear direction and professional guidance for the team, oversee effective use of resources and data analysis to drive informed decision‑making. A teaching commitment is included, enabling you to model excellent classroom practice, support colleague development and remain closely involved in pupils’ learning experiences.
Qualifications
You will be a qualified teacher (QTS) with a degree in Maths or a closely related field and will bring strong leadership experience within secondary education. You will have a proven track record of delivering outstanding Maths teaching across Key Stages 3–5, securing excellent outcomes at GCSE and A level, driving curriculum development, supporting diverse learners and improving attainment through innovative pedagogy and strategic initiatives. Passionate about mathematics, you will inspire students and staff, champion high‑quality teaching and learning, and foster an inclusive, safe and high‑performing departmental culture. Strong organisational, communication and IT skills are essential, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining the highest standards.
