Hourly pay rate: £20.58 an hour
Are you kind, fun and patient with an interest in computer gaming? If so, we need you! We are looking for someone to support a lovely 13 year old at his home in Hassocks. He is a very gentle and cautious boy who can find the world very overwhelming. He comes alive when he playing and talking about computer games, so someone who is able to share this passion with him would be great. He has significant anxiety, autism with PDA and he needs someone to help him break the different parts of an activity down to make them feel more manageable. He also has a diagnosis of Von Willebrand disease.
The successful candidate will need to have their own car and business insurance so they can take the young person to the Occupational Therapist and to an in centre provision on a Friday. There will be a mileage allowance for this.
Tasks
* Supporting his independence and executive functioning skills (e.g. supporting him to get ready for the day's learning, encouraging him to organise his room and desk, and locate all of the resources that he needs to start a task, etc.)
* Supporting him to access the community - Taking him for walks, encouraging him to make purchases in a shop, travel training when appropriate
* Driving him to his in centre education provision and back
* Taking him to the OT and supporting him with the OT exercises they recommend daily
* Supporting him to identify education projects (you will have support with this from his education coordinator) and spending time each day working towards these projects
* Supporting him to consider the resourcing he will need for his weekly projects
