Due to our increasing growth at GB Railfreight, we are seeking an Asset Delivery Assistant to help control locomotives and wagons, ensuring maintenance, fleet efficiency, and asset utilization while supporting commercial needs. This key role suits a critical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has rail industry knowledge.
The Asset Delivery Assistant will oversee scheduled maintenance and repairs of GBRf Traction and Rolling Stock, coordinating with Control and Planning departments to ensure efficient locomotive movements and timely, cost-effective asset turnaround.
This position is based in Peterborough with occasional travel to Doncaster. The salary is £41,327 plus shift allowance. It involves a roster covering 7 days a week, with shifts between 0530 - 1830 (e.g., 0530 - 1330 or 0830 - 1830).

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Asset Control Manager with locomotive and wagon control during the current week, following plans from Fleet Planners.
2. Support the Fleet Planning Team to ensure weekly plans are robust and achievable.
3. Coordinate with Control teams and Duty Control Managers to prioritize fleet maintenance alongside commercial needs.
4. Work with maintenance suppliers and third-party planners for scheduled and ad hoc maintenance.
5. Provide cover for Asset Control team absences.
6. Help Asset Managers improve maintenance plans through continuous improvement.
7. Assist in executing weekly ad hoc moves, ensuring resources are available and managing perturbations.
8. Manage costs during significant incidents.
9. Support development of the wagon plan across GBRf yards to meet maintenance and ad hoc needs.
10. Contribute to establishing a 7-day, day-shift Asset Control operation.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, Grade C or above
* Rail industry experience
* Strong problem-solving skills
* High attention to detail
* Ability to work calmly under pressure
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
* Clean UK driving license
* Willingness to travel within the UK
Desirable Skills:
* Technical knowledge of traction and rolling stock engineering
* Knowledge of GBRf operations, including locations, plans, and stock
* Experience with Power BI, TOPS, CRONUS, IFM
