Practice Overview
Loudoun Medical Centre, Lochore Terrace, Darvel, KA17 0HD, is a small-town practice based in the picturesque Irvine Valley. We are expanding our clinical team due to new funding from the Scottish Government and are looking for qualified GPs and those soon to be CCT-qualified to join us.
GP Role
We are hiring for 4‑8 sessions of new GP time, with the possibility of increasing sessions in the next year or two as funding grows. The role involves a mix of face‑to‑face, telephone, and e‑consultation appointments. Clinical work is supported by nursing staff and the broader local health‑care network.
Practice Details
Our core opening hours are 8:30 am‑5:30 pm, with earlier finishes available when not on call. We currently have 4 partners and two salaried GPs serving a practice population of just over 7,000. The practice is well supported by experienced nursing staff, an ANP, multiple GPNs, CTAC nurses, an HCA, as well as health‑visitor, pharmacy, mental‑health, and community link teams. We also train third‑year medical students from Glasgow University.
Team & Working Environment
We value mutual support, flexibility, and well‑being. Each clinician tailors their own template in line with BMA guidance, and we focus on quality improvement activities such as prescribing projects, patient safety, and health promotion. Sessions are protected for learning and team meetings, and we hold regular Palliative Care and Child Protection meetings. Flexible working hours accommodate portfolio careers or childcare commitments.
