A vacancy has arisen within the Respiratory, Sleep and Ventilation Physiology Team at UHDB (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton) for a fixed-term Band 7 Clinical Physiologist position, working 30 hours/week. This role involves leading the Queens Hospital site in respiratory services and training new physiologists, as well as overseeing the community diagnostic centre at Sir Robert Peel Hospital.
Requirements: Extensive experience in respiratory physiology investigations, sleep diagnostics, and treatment. Competence in reporting lung function tests and overnight sleep studies is essential. The ability to oversee reports from other physiologists is required. Experience in specialist NIV treatment is desirable but training can be provided.
The position is based at Queens Hospital Burton with cross-site working at Sir Robert Peel Hospital and other UHDB sites as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead physiologist for Queens Hospital Burton, developing and transforming respiratory services, managing waiting lists, staff training, and ensuring service quality.
2. Perform sleep study investigations and CPAP/NIV treatment.
3. Report own results and oversee reports from junior staff.
4. Conduct audits within own area.
5. Participate in Sleep and NIV MDT meetings.
6. Perform and report lung function tests.
7. Assist in training other staff in collaboration with the respiratory team.
8. Operational management of respiratory, sleep, and ventilation services, including managing waiting lists and staff rotas.
