Transport Coordinator / Dispatcher
Location: Cheltenham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Salary: Base Salary + Commission

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator / Dispatcher to join our busy operations team. You'll be at the heart of our day-to-day logistics—allocating jobs, liaising with drivers and customers, tracking deliveries, and ensuring every job runs smoothly and on time. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role, ideal for someone who thrives under pressure and has a strong understanding of fleet logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Allocate and dispatch jobs across our fleet based on load type, route, and vehicle capacity
* Ensure all collection and delivery windows are met
* Maintain constant communication with drivers and customers
* Provide real-time updates on delays, waiting times, or any issues
* Monitor driver activity, track breaks, and manage on-road performance
* Maintain a strong understanding of the company's fleet and capacity
* Take and process bookings via email and phone
* Use the company's booking system and load boards for planning and return loads
* Monitor driver KPIs and actively seek ways to improve performance and efficiency
* Proactively solve problems as they arise and ensure smooth day-to-day operations
* Continuously look for ways to optimise routes, processes, and overall operational efficiency
What We're Looking For:
* Minimum 1 year of experience as a dispatcher or logistics coordinator
* Excellent communication skills and fluent spoken and written English
* Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
* Ability to optimise routes, reduce downtime, and improve workflow efficiency
* Good knowledge of UK road transport and vehicle types
* Confident working with logistics software, booking systems, and emails
* Highly organised, with strong attention to detail
* Customer-focused and solutions-oriented attitude
