Technical Manager (Electrical Bias) | Defence & Data Centre Projects

Overview
Walker & Sloan are recruiting a Technical Manager with a strong electrical bias to support the delivery of complex defence and data centre projects. This role spans pre‑construction and live project environments, focusing on electrical and MEP design, technical compliance, and successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the technical design process from pre‑construction through to project completion
* Lead the coordination of electrical and MEP design packages
* Review consultant and subcontractor design information for compliance, quality, and buildability
* Support technical workshops, design reviews, and value engineering exercises
* Manage technical risks, design changes, and project compliance requirements
* Ensure projects meet MOD, mission‑critical, and industry‑specific standards
* Work closely with project delivery teams to support programme and construction objectives
* Coordinate information flow between clients, consultants, and specialist subcontractors
* Support commissioning strategies and technical handover processes
Candidate Profile
* Previous experience as a Technical Manager, Design Manager, or Building Services Manager in construction
* Strong electrical bias with understanding of MEP integration and building services systems
* Experience delivering complex projects such as data centres, defence facilities, life sciences, healthcare, or other highly serviced buildings
* Background working for a main contractor, specialist contractor, or consultancy environment
* Excellent technical, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple design packages simultaneously within fast‑paced project environments
* Strong understanding of current building regulations, technical standards, and construction methodologies
