Job Description
We are working in partnership with a leading UK infrastructure and construction organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer (Roads & Streets) for their established Infrastructure design team based in Bridgend.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highways-focused civil engineer to take a senior technical role, delivering high-quality design solutions across a range of public and private sector infrastructure schemes while supporting construction delivery and mentoring junior staff.
The Role
As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of highways and streets design projects, working closely with internal delivery teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, buildable and cost-effective solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
* Producing highways and streets designs, models, specifications and technical reports in line with DMRB and relevant UK standards
* Delivering and managing digital designs using AutoCAD, Civil 3D and similar engineering software
* Providing technical assurance through checking, certifying and authorising design outputs
* Planning and managing work packages, including programming, pricing, proposals and cost estimates
* Supporting construction activities with buildability input, site visits, surveys and technical advice
* Ensuring compliance with CDM Designer duties, Health & Safety and environmental requirements
* Mentoring graduate engineers and technicians, supporting continued professional development
About You
You will be a qualified civil engineer with strong UK highways infrastructure experience,
Key requirements:
* Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering
* Chartered with ICE or actively working toward chartership
* Proven experience in highways / roads / streets design
* Strong technical knowledge of:
o Highways geometry
o Drainage and SuDS / hydraulic design
o UK design standards and safe-by-design principles
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D highly desirable)
* Experience preparing technical approvals and adoption submissions (e.g. S104, S106)
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
