As a Yard Hand, you will be responsible for the efficient operation of the yard area, ensuring the smooth flow of goods and materials in and out of the yard.
Duties
* Prioritise the day-to-day activities of the yard area, ensuring all relevant Health & Safety regulations are adhered to
* Maintain a clean, neat and tidy yard
* Ensure the safe control of vehicles in and out of the yard area
* Ensure a suitable holding system is implemented to ensure the yard does not become unsafe due to excessive vehicle numbers
* Monitor the waste skips in the yard and ensure prompt exchange of vessels as required
* Monitor the waste being disposed of to ensure no cross contamination takes place
* Implement and maintain general house-keeping processes to ensure a safe and clean working environment
* Ensure proper handling and storage of all materials
* Oversees site plant equipment and ensure equipment is safe, operational and appropriately secured (locks, chains etc)
* Manage deliveries ensuring vehicles are loaded/unloaded in a safe manner and all appropriate paperwork and documentation
* Assist in conducting monthly safety/yard inspections, documents findings/observations and distribute to the appropriate management personnel
* Manages the logistics of all material (location, flow of goods) to ensure proper storage avoiding congestion in the yard
* Ensure any maintenance issues are recorded & reported to appropriate stakeholders
* Drive health & safety improvements and engagement with staff
* Assists the management with control measures to ensure mistakes, inaccuracies and discrepancies are highlighted, addressed and resolved
The ideal candidate will have:
* Banksman training
* In-date FLT licence
Qualifications
– Proven experience in yard management or a related field
– Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics operations
– Familiarity with transportation management systems
– Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
