Seasons Textiles is part of a busy group of companies in Southall, Greater London. We are a dynamic business supplying soft furnishings and drapes to the film & TV industry. We are looking for an experienced maker to join us as our new Deputy Workroom Manager. The Deputy Workroom Manager would be involved in all aspects of soft furnishings, making curtains, pelmets, blinds, cushions, bed dressing, table clothes etc. In addition, you would support the management of the in-house team of makers and be comfortable communicating and liaising with customers. This role would suit someone who is keen to work in a friendly, creative, and supportive environment. Key duties & responsibilities To interpret customer requirements from verbal/ written information and drawings, and create and produce accurate estimates for a variety of drapes and soft furnishing To make up, repair and maintain a broad and varied collection of soft furnishing and drapes using artistic vision and the ability to realise creative ideas To assist in supervising a team as the department grows, ensuring best working practices in terms of safety and quality Have the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise and meet deadlines Be accountable for managing a budget for all workshop materials, including keeping accurate records of expenditure Essential requirements Extensive experience in sewing curtains and soft furnishings, using both industrial sewing machines and by hand Strong communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with other members of the team Respond to changing deadlines without compromising on quality Positive and flexible approach to problem solving with precision and attention to detail Desirable requirements Knowledge of dipping, dyeing, and breaking down fabric An understanding and interest in upholstery techniques Proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
