Are you a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role? We're partnering with a number of alternative provisions in Scunthorpe that support pupils across Key Stages 1, 2, 3, and 4 who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We're seeking strong, passionate individuals to join these supportive school communities for the new academic year, starting in September.
These roles are crucial in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You'll be working with pupils who have a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your main responsibilities will include:
* Providing targeted emotional, social, and academic support to pupils.
* Building strong, positive relationships to encourage confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
* Collaborating closely with teachers and SEN staff to support EHCP outcomes and personalised learning plans.
* Helping to create a structured, calming, and safe learning environment.
* Assisting with personal care and sensory regulation as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience working in an SEN setting or with children who have additional needs, particularly those with SEMH challenges.
* A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to behaviour and emotional regulation.
* The ability to work flexibly and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent experience.
* A genuine passion for helping vulnerable children thrive.
