Assistant Accountant

Job summary:

As an Assistant Accountant within our Volkswagen Division Accounting Centre, you will ensure the accurate processing, recording, and completion of all accounts information as required by the Accountants, adhering to all deadlines and JCT600 procedures.

This role will be based in Leeds LS11 0DL due to office relocation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Carry out all accounting and administrative tasks within your responsibility in accordance with company procedures.
* Ensure accurate and complete processing of all account matters.
* Properly control, account for, and allocate all received monies and payments to the correct customer or supplier accounts.
* Promptly and efficiently handle all queries related to customer receipts.
* Address incoming customer account queries and disputes expeditiously.
* Operate appropriate payment procedures within agreed timescales.
* Analyze and record cheque, cash payments, direct debits, and other outgoings, and post these to the nominal ledger.
* Analyze VAT on all purchase and expense invoices, ensuring documentation complies with VAT and Taxation requirements.
* Maintain and update accounting and administrative records accurately on a daily basis.
* Communicate effectively and professionally via telephone or email as required.

Qualifications:

* High numeracy and literacy skills at a clerical level are essential.
* A customer-centric approach, always aiming to exceed customer expectations.
* Understanding of accounting documents such as invoices, credit notes, payment methods, receipts, and payment advice notes is desirable.
* Knowledge of VAT and relevant financial legislation (e.g., money laundering) is desirable.
* Ability to provide professional and courteous service to suppliers and customers.
* Strong relationship-building skills.
* Motivated by targets and working under pressure, with excellent organizational skills.
