ROLE: Bookkeeper – Sole Charge LOCATION: West Kent SALARY: Circa £40,000 – £45,000 DOE THE COMPANY This organisation is a long-established and reputable construction services provider are looking to recruit a Bookkeeper on a permanent basis. This company deliver expert solutions to both commercial and domestic clients. Working for their offices based in the West Kent area, mainly office based with some flexibility. Working hours are 8:30 till 5pm Monday to Friday. THE JOB This Bookkeeper job has become available due to a retirement in the business later this year, which will present a good handover period. The company are looking for someone experienced and self-sufficient to manage its internal accounts. You will report directly to the directors and liaise with external accountants, playing a key role in maintaining financial control, ensuring compliance, and supporting decision-making through accurate reporting. Key Responsibilities: * Full responsibility for bookkeeping using Sage Line 50 and Payroll * Processing purchase and sales invoices * Bank reconciliations and cash flow management * Staff expenses and credit card reconciliations * VAT returns, CIS and HMRC submissions * Payroll preparation and coordination with external payroll provider * Monthly and year-end accounts prep * Managing customer receipts and supplier payments * Debtor and creditor control * Liaison with external accountants and auditors WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR * Proven experience in a sole charge or stand-alone bookkeeping role within a similar SME environment * Proficient in accounting software Sage Line 50 and Payroll preferred * Knowledge of VAT, CIS and UK payroll processes * Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy * Strong organisational and time-management skills * Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the finance function * Excellent communication skills for internal and external liaison * AAT qualified or working towards (desirable) If you are interested in this opportunity hit “apply” or contact Craig Humphrey at Xenon Recruitment today!
