Job Overview
A full‑time Band 5 Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC) is required to join the Anaesthetic Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital. The position requires a UK‑recognised anaesthetic course or module qualification.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based patient care throughout the peri‑operative period.
* Provide skilled assistance in the surgical care of patients across 12 theatres and satellite areas such as MRI, Resus, Ophthalmic, X‑ray and Obstetrics.
* Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, supporting staff and students through education and development.
* Assist in the management and organisation of clinical and satellite areas, implementing improvements identified by audit and clinical trials.
* Operate independently with no direct supervision, assuming delegated responsibilities within the multidisciplinary setting.
* Participate in out‑of‑hours shifts, including weekends and nights.
Qualifications and Knowledge
* Essential
o NMC or HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner at degree level or equivalent.
o Accredited Level 5 certificate or module in anaesthetic care for the anaesthetic role.
o Knowledge of theatre roles and the working environment.
o Ability to provide high‑quality patient care and effective communication.
o Motivated and able to work independently within a multidisciplinary setting.
o Must be able to work out‑of‑hours shifts such as weekends and nights.
* Desirable
o Teaching, mentoring or assessing qualification.
o Evidence of ongoing professional development.
o Experience across a wide variety of clinical specialities.
o Ability to speak Welsh.
