The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Chief Mate to join us, working onboard our dredger operating from Portsmouth Wharf and deployed on short coastal passages. As second-in-command, you'll be part of a dynamic, professional, and supportive team, working a 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off rotation.
With your experience as a Chief Mate/Officer, you'll help ensure the vessel is operated safely and efficiently, in compliance with all rules and regulations. You will support the vessel's master in all aspects of day-to-day operations. As Head of Deck Department, you'll manage crew organization, safety, and maintenance tasks. As Safety Officer, you'll maintain safety equipment and conduct safety drills and training. You'll perform navigational duties and undertake dredging operations as required by the Master.
Who you are
* You are a proven leader with experience as a Chief Mate, confident in decision-making.
* You are passionate about Health & Safety, ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
* You hold a UK Certificate of Competency (CoC) or UK CEC (minimum Chief Mate Unlimited), ENG1 or equivalent Seafarer medical fitness certificate, and all valid STCW certifications.
* You are willing to obtain further certificates such as a Pilot Exemptions Certificate (PEC).
