Consultant Clinical Scientist – Radiation Protection Advisor and Medical Physics Expert

Join our team as a Consultant Clinical Scientist – Radiation Protection Advisor and Medical Physics Expert at NHS Scotland.


Position Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, one of the UK's largest healthcare systems with around 40,000 staff, is seeking an experienced medical physicist to enhance our radiation protection and medical physics services across hospitals in the West and Borders of Scotland. This role involves delivering and developing services, leading education and training programs, and contributing to departmental growth in response to legislative, technological, and clinical changes.


Key Responsibilities

1. Participate in delivering and developing radiation protection services in diagnostic radiology.
2. Lead and contribute to education and training courses, including collaborations with the University of Glasgow.
3. Engage in departmental development initiatives responding to legislative and technological changes.


Qualifications

* Good honours Degree in Physical Sciences.
* Completion of a formal training program in medical physics equivalent to NSHCS STP or SMPCETS.
* Registration as a Clinical Scientist with HCPC.
* Current certificates of competence from RPA2000 as a Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) and Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Diagnostic Radiology.


Skills and Attributes

* Good management and communication skills.
