Job Overview
We are seeking a Multi‑Skilled Site Engineer to support the Hard FM operations at HMRC's flagship site at Pilgrim's Quarter, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Working hours to cover core business hours of 07:00am - 18:00pm split across two 8hr shift patterns.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with contractual requirements.
* Maintain plant and equipment in accordance with O&M manuals, industry best practices, and relevant legislation.
* Supervise subcontractors and ensure compliance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), policies, and procedures.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests within agreed timeframes, completing all necessary documentation.
* Work safely and professionally at all times, adhering to company policies and procedures.
* Operate effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment in plant rooms and service enclosures.
* Perform ad‑hoc duties as required during your shift.
* Maintain a high level of communication with Helpdesk, Engineering Supervisor & Manager at all times.
* Maintain equipment supported by sound diagnostic and problem‑solving skills, raising issues as required to the Engineering Supervisor & Helpdesk in a timely manner.
Health & Safety
* Follow Group and company policies and procedures, at all times.
* Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment.
* Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
* Report any issues or training needs to your Line Supervisor or Manager.
* Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Completion of a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
* City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent mechanical/electrical qualification.
* Proven experience in mechanical/electrical and/or multi‑disciplinary maintenance.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
* Ability to work on own initiative and deliver high‑quality service.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and customer awareness.
* Competent IT skills, including use of a handheld device or tablet.
Desirable
* Electrical qualifications such as 18th Edition or City & Guilds 2391.
* Willingness to develop skills in other areas of building services.
* Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
You’ll also need
* A full UK driving licence.
* Eligibility for BPSS and SC security clearance.
o Strong communication skills to work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
