Planner

Alfreton
National Grid
Planner
Posted: 26 August
Offer description

Planners design our network and work with our Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter, and replace our equipment. As you can imagine, the pace is fast, and if you join us, our customers will trust you to provide excellent service and minimise any impact.

Right now, we are looking for a Planner to join us on an interim basis at our Alfreton depot for a period of 6 months, subject to review.

To apply, you’ll need English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 minimum OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above. We’ll need to see evidence of your qualifications.

As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and is subject to business need. Since this is a temporary role, the successful candidate may be office-based for the duration of the contract.

Main Responsibilities

You’ll be hands-on and customer-focused, managing multiple projects simultaneously, including the design, costing, and quoting of existing and new electricity network assets. Your responsibilities will include:

* Planning, preparing, and delivering new services, alterations, and small capital projects
* Carrying out onsite meetings
* Working with wayleaves/estates specialists to obtain 3rd party agreements for NGED assets
* Financially reviewing and closing projects
* Communicating effectively with customers to manage expectations and resolve queries
* Scheduling contracted works
* Communicating with local authorities and external stakeholders

Ideal Candidate

We need you to understand our customers and their needs. Strong communication skills are key so you can solve their problems and explain issues simply and clearly. As you’ll be managing your own diary, resilience, organization, and prioritization skills are essential. Team players thrive in this role, and experience using iPads and computers is a must.

You may not possess all the skills required initially, but you should have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

If the contract is extended and you haven't already attained it, you may be required to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR, which includes daily diary completion and various tasks and reports.

*Please note, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

A full, valid driving license is required for this role.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding the interests of the company, colleagues, and customers. This role is subject to a satisfactory DBS check, with different levels of screening and vetting depending on the role. Some roles require triannual checks.
